Tahiry Jose Sues Fashion Week Attacker

Violence against women is not acceptable, and former Love & Hip Hop: New York star and model Tahiry Jose is suing her alleged attacker, male model Carlos Suggs, to make sure he understands that.

According to the New York Post, Jose filed papers in Manhattan Supreme Court alleging that at a September 2014 New York Fashion Week event, Suggs, “suddenly without cause and provocation verbally and physically, brutally and savagely attacked her, beating her up, hurling obscenities at her, dragging her by her hair, continuously belittling and disrespecting her.”

Back in September 2014, Jose addressed the alleged attack and violence against women via the following Instagram post:

Thank you ALL for your well wishes. I am both appreciative and grateful to have you on my team and call you #teamtahiry! I am sincerely touched by your outpouring love. As you may or may not know, on Monday, Sept. 8, I was attacked, assaulted and violated, while in the workplace, by a man. I was beaten because I am woman with a voice and refuse to be disrespected. It is more proof the violence against women is real and needs to be addressed publicly. The shaming and disrespecting of women/victims of violent abuses must stop. Violence against women must stop; a women’s voice and refusal to be disrespected is not grounds for physical abuse. #iamwoman #myvoicematters More to the point, I am home, healing and surrounded by love. Rest assured, I will continue all my efforts and endeavors with the same faith, determination, passion and spirit I have always possessed. Again thank you! You are ALL heroes of mine! Love Tahiry.”

TMZ reports that in December 2014, Suggs plead guilty to assaulting Jose, and was also ordered to complete an anger management program. He was also ordered to stay away from her for five years.

The New York Daily News spoke to Jose’s lawyer, Samuel Davis, and he states that Suggs was working at the door at the Angola International Fashion Show in Chelsea, and was “being extraordinarily nasty to two of Tahiry’s staff members. [Tahiry] confronted him, and [Carlos] snapped." The paper also reports that Jose is also suing the show organizers who hired him for unspecified damages.

Tahiry has not commented on the civil suit. She was recently spotted in Atlanta, looking unbothered at a celebrity-bowling event for LudaDay Weekend:

We hope Tahiry gets EVERY dime that she is asking for. She had to wear a neck brace, and seek physical therapy after the attack. Let this be a lesson to ALL cowards who think it’s acceptable to put their hands on a woman.
