Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott is Back!

Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott is back and I am here for it!

Yesterday Missy released the video for her first single “WTF (Where They From)” ft. Pharell Williams. Although we last saw Missy back in February during Katy Perry’s Super Bowl halftime show, it has been 3 years since she dropped a single, 7 years since she released a video, and 10 years since she blessed us with an album.

Since its release, the video views for “WTF (Where They From) has hit 4.6 million, and the single has hit the iTunes US top 10 chart. I was so excited when the video dropped. From her lyrics, to her style, to her dance moves; Missy represents everything that is missing right now in hip-hop.

I’ve been a Missy fan since she was a member of the 90’s female R&B group Sista (I’m dating myself I know). Let’s not forget the dope lines she dropped on Puffy’s Bad Boy remix to Gina Thompson’s “The Things that You Do.” I completely lost my mind as a teen when Supa Dupa Fly was released. Throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s, album after album, Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott delivered.

For those of you who question whether Missy Elliot will be welcomed back with open arms – the video views and song downloads are clear indications that Missy is here to stay.

Welcome back Missy, you were deeply missed!
