Stacey Dash: Get Rid of BET and Black History Month

Today on Fox & Friends’, Clueless star and Fox News contributor Stacey Dash (who is of Barbadian, African-American, and Mexican descent) shared her thoughts on the backlash against this year’s Oscar nominations. As per usual, Stacey’s comments have folks wishing that she would sentarse!

According to Stacey, Jada Pinkett Smith is a “hypocrite” for expecting some black actors to be nominated for an Oscar while the black community is enjoying special privileges like Black History Month and the BET channel.

Earlier this week, Smith posted a video to Facebook stating that she would not be attending this year’s Oscar Awards to protest the fact that all of the major nominees were white.

Dash told Fox & Friends’ host Steve Doocy:

“I think it’s ludicrous” she stated. “Because we have to make up our minds. Either we want to have segredgation or integration. If we don’t want segregation then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the [NAACP] Image Awards, where you are only awarded if you are black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It's a double standard.”

Espera que hay más!

Dash then added: “There shouldn't be a Black History Month. You know? We're Americans. Period. That's it.”

Doocy then asked if she meant there “shouldn't be a Black History Month because there isn't a white history month?” “Exactly. Exactly,” Dash responded.

Haya la vida!

Dash, who identifies as Mexican American, needs a lesson in just how segregated the BET Awards and NAACP Image Awards ARE NOT. Whites and Hispanics are nominated during the BET Awards. Eminem won an award, and so did Jennifer Lopez. Tatyana Ali (who’s Afro-Panamanian) has received numerous NAACP Image Award nominations and won. Bruno Mars (who’s part Puerto Rican), OMG Girl Bahja Rodriguez (who’s also part PuertoRican), and Miguel (who’s of Mexican descent) have all been nominated for multiple NAACP Image awards. In 2012, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, Justin Timberlake, Emma Stone, and Bryce Dallas Howard, were all nominated for NAACP Image Awards.

Is Stacey serious? Like, does she give her comments some thought before she utters them? Wasn’t Stacey recently suspended from Fox News for saying President Barack Obama did not “give a sh*t.”, Well, I personally think she should be suspended from both the African-American and Latino communities for not giving a sh*t about the ignorance that comes out of her mouth. Today is her 49th birthday, so I won’t tell her where she needs to go, or how to get there. I will leave that to the folks on Twitter. Happy Birthday Stacey.
