Afro-Latina Gymnast Sophina DeJesus Wows Crowd With Killer Floor Routine
Award-winning Afro-Latina gymnast and UCLA senior Sophina DeJesus wowed the crowd with a killer floor routine for the Bruins at a meet against Utah on Saturday. This talented young lady managed to incorporate the Whip, Nae Nae, and Quan into her routine, finishing it all off with a fierce and final dab!
According to ESPN, the 5-foot-1 tumbler received a 9.925 for the performance and tied for fourth place in floor exercise results. Check out her killer floor routine below:
Born in San Jose, California, Sophina DeJesus is a senior sociology major at UCLA. Currently, a native of Temecula, California, the former professional dancer and actress is of Puerto Rican descent. DeJesus used to perform as a cast member on the children’s television show “Hip Hop Harry.” The educational children’s show combined dance and rap to teach lessons, and aired on Discovery Kids and TLC (formerly The Learning Channel) in 2006 and 2007.
She has also appeared in television commercials, on TV talk shows, a Missy Elliott music video, and even on Broadway with Debbie Allen. DeJesus was also a part of a world-champion hip-hop dance team called the Mix 5.
